Tell me about your Family.

I have been happily married for 48 years to my lovely wife Pam who I met at the University of Iowa during undergraduate school.  I have 3 married children and 8 grandchildren. They are all the love of our life and we take every opportunity we have to visit them or have them visit us in Council Bluffs.

Who was your major influence in your life and why?

I was born in Albany, Georgia; grew up in Gulfport , Mississippi until 7th grade when my family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where I attended junior high, high school and one year of Junior college before attending the University of Iowa in 1965.

Where were you born and raised?

I enjoy  basketball, hiking, and fishing.  Most of the time I enjoy spending time with family and exploring the community in which we live. My wife and I also enjoy watching British Mysteries.

Why did you choose the profession of lawyer?

After spending 4 years in the United State Air Force I decided it was important to continue my education so I decided that a law degree would complement my undergraduate business degree and if I did not like practicing law I could use the education in business.  I found out very quickly that I enjoy practicing law and have been involved as a trial lawyer since early on in my career.

Who was your influence growing up and why?

My father was an influence in my life by teaching me to be responsible and disciplined which I have used throughout my life and taught my children.

Personal hobbies and interests

I enjoy playing golf and I am an avid Hawkeye Football and Basketball fan.  My wife also enjoys watching Iowa football and basketball so it is something we can do together. We are passionate about our family and enjoy being involved in our children and grandchildren’s lives as much as we can.

How are you involved in the community?

I am on the Board of Directors of MICAH House homeless shelter in Council Bluffs.  I am a member of the Fellowship Church for over 40 years where I have been a teacher in Children’s Church and am currently a Greeter with my wife Pam.
